BC Baggett and his wife Susan, own and operate Picture Perfect Photography Studio, Inc., in the small, Southern Indiana town of Jasper. The majority of their work is produced for portrait clients but they also take on various types of commercial assignments and specialize in electronic imaging. They also operate a full-service custom mat & frame shop and more recently developed MasterWorks Imaging specializing in digital fine art printing. BC has lectured at numerous conventions as well as conducting PPA Super Mondays and Winona-On-Location classes on digital imaging.

BC Baggett, M. Photog., M. Artist, MEI, Cr., PPA Certified, was born and raised in rural North Carolina. He spent his childhood and adolescent years working on the family farm, and after graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Navy. It was while traveling in the military that BC’s real interest in photography began. He gained early experience with cameras and photography through his work in the Navy, and soon purchased his first camera to record his travels while on assignment in many foreign countries.

While stationed in Little Creek, Virginia, BC met his wife, Susan Zehr, a native of Indiana. They were married in 1979. After marriage, BC decided not to make the Navy his career and began investigating a career in photography instead. They ended up moving back to Susan's hometown, and in February of 1980, they opened their studio in a rented office space in downtown Jasper, Indiana. They soon outgrew the space, and in 1985, they purchased an older home, renovated it, and moved their operation to its present location.

When they opened their doors for business back in 1980, neither of them had any experience in professional photography. They learned along the way. The Baggetts credit much of their success over the years to their fellow photographers and friends in the business, and to the knowledge gained through attending many conventions and seminars over the last 25 years.

BC’s photography and digital imaging has earned him many top awards. He has won 11 Kodak Gallery Awards, 3 Fuji Masterpiece Awards, PPA’s National Award, multiple Indiana Photographer of the Year Awards and is a Life Member of PPI. He has had many prints accepted into the PPA Loan Collection and for exhibition at Disney’s EPCOT Center. He was among the first group of photographers to receive the new PPA Imaging Excellence Award for 13 or more images in the PPA Loan Collection and he has also won the coveted ASP Gold Medallion Award for the top image in the PPA international print competition.

In 1985 BC earned the title of Certified Professional Photographer. In 1988, he earned the degree of Master Of Photography for excellence in his field, and in 1992, the Photographic Craftsman degree for teaching and lecturing. In 1997 he earned the Master Of Electronic Imaging degree for his expertise in digital imaging. In 2004, he earned the Photographic Artist Certification and was presented the Master Artist degree at the 2004 PPA Imaging USA in Las Vegas. In doing so, he became one of eight photographers worldwide to hold all four of PPA’s degrees — the only one in Indiana.

Both BC and Susan, who also earned her Photographic Craftsman degree in 2003, have served on the Professional Photographers of Indiana Board Of Directors. BC was elected to the PPI Board in 1987, served eight years and was President in 1994. He has also served as PPI’s Executive Director.
